FSSAI Penalises Heritage Foods Over Sub-Standard Curd Quality
Food safety authorities have taken action against Heritage Foods after its “Total Curd” product was found to be sub-standard during quality checks. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) concluded that the product did not meet prescribed quality norms and confirmed violations under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Officials stated that laboratory examination found the curd lacking the minimum required milk fat content. Based on these findings, the product was categorised as sub-standard, prompting regulatory action against the company.

Following the confirmation of quality violations, authorities imposed a penalty of ₹1 lakh on Heritage Foods under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act. The action was taken for selling curd that did not comply with mandated food quality standards.
The case highlights regulatory enforcement aimed at ensuring consumer protection and maintaining product standards in the dairy sector. Food safety officials emphasised adherence to prescribed norms for all packaged dairy products sold in the market.
Company Acknowledges Findings and Reports to SEBI
Heritage Foods management acknowledged the regulatory findings and accepted the lapse identified in the quality inspection. The company indicated that it would pay the imposed penalty as directed by the authorities.
The matter has also been reported to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as part of compliance procedures. The development has drawn attention to quality monitoring and regulatory oversight in the food and dairy industry.
