Excise Department Destroys 953 Kg Ganja in Khammam Region
The Excise Department has destroyed a large quantity of seized ganja in the Khammam region following official orders. Khammam Deputy Commissioner Janardhan Reddy directed the disposal of 953 kilograms of ganja linked to 47 registered cases across six excise stations in the undivided Khammam and Kothagudem districts.
The destroyed narcotics are estimated to be worth ₹4.76 crore, marking a significant enforcement action against illegal drug circulation in the region.
Seized Ganja Collected from Six Excise Stations
The confiscated ganja was gathered from multiple excise stations before being sent for destruction. In Khammam district, Khammam Excise Station-1 accounted for 42 kilograms in nine cases, while Khammam Station-2 contributed 57 kilograms from five cases. Madira Excise Station recorded 193 kilograms across seven cases.
In Kothagudem district, Palvoncha Excise Station reported 114 kilograms in two cases. Manuguru Excise Station accounted for 21 kilograms in one case, and Bhadrachalam Excise Station contributed the largest share with 625 kilograms linked to 23 cases.
Destruction Conducted at Authorised Facility
Following procedural consolidation, the entire seized quantity was transported to a government-approved destruction facility operated by AWM Consulting Limited. The facility is located at Gopalpet in Thallada mandal.
The destruction process was carried out on Monday in compliance with legal and administrative guidelines governing the disposal of seized narcotic substances.
Enforcement Focus on Drug Control
Officials stated that the destruction of seized ganja is part of ongoing enforcement measures to curb the illegal narcotics trade in the region. The action reflects continued monitoring and coordinated operations by excise authorities across Khammam and Kothagudem districts.
Administrative oversight and enforcement activities are expected to continue as part of routine measures aimed at controlling drug-related offences and ensuring compliance with law enforcement procedures.
