Deputy CM Addresses Tirumala Ghee Case and CBI Findings
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation has not given a clean chit in the Tirumala adulterated ghee case and that the ghee used for preparing Tirumala laddu was not derived from milk fat. He made these remarks during a media interaction held at the Chief Minister’s camp office.
He said the findings indicated that the substance used in place of ghee did not originate from dairy sources. He added that those responsible must acknowledge their actions and apologize, asserting that the government would continue pursuing the matter through legal and administrative channels.
Government Position on Investigation and Accountability
Pawan Kalyan said the coalition government would not spare any individual found responsible in the adulterated ghee case. He described the issue as one affecting religious sentiments and stated that accountability would be ensured through the ongoing process.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the matter had been approached with caution due to its sensitive nature. He said the government considered the implications before placing the issue in the public domain, noting that the case had progressed to the Supreme Court for examination.
Reference to NDDB Findings on Ghee Composition
During the briefing, he referred to a National Dairy Development Board report that indicated the presence of substances other than dairy fat in the material identified as ghee. He said the report mentioned vegetable oils and other non-dairy components and highlighted that the matter required careful scrutiny.
Allegations of Administrative Lapses and Earlier Knowledge
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that information about adulteration had emerged in 2022, but the laboratory report was not acted upon at that time. He said that despite the issue being known, laddus prepared using the same ghee were reportedly sent for the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
He emphasized that the government would continue pursuing the issue in order to ensure accountability. He also stated that the matter should not be viewed in religious terms against any community but as an issue concerning the preservation of religious traditions and practices.
Temple Incidents and Government Response
Pawan Kalyan referred to several temple-related incidents between 2019 and 2024, stating that such events were sensitive and required careful handling. He said the government’s approach to matters concerning religion and faith would remain measured and responsible.
He reiterated that the government would continue the investigation into the adulterated ghee issue and ensure that legal proceedings move forward. The media interaction was attended by Ministers Nara Lokesh, Payyavula Keshav, Satya Kumar Yadav, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, and K. Parthasarathy, among others.
