Cyberabad Traffic DCP-2 Sheshadri Reddy has warned that some individuals misuse the name of love to deceive young women and cause harm. He urged girls to remain alert, especially on February 14, observed as Valentine’s Day.
He said the growing influence of social media platforms has increased risks, with offenders using online interactions to gain trust and mislead victims.
Concerns Over Social Media Misuse
The officer noted that certain individuals approach girls through platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, later attempting to exploit them under false pretenses. He cautioned that some victims leave home after trusting such contacts and end up facing dangerous situations.
He advised young women to be cautious, avoid sharing personal information with unknown persons, and verify identities before meeting anyone in person.
Advisory for Hotels and Public Safety
Sheshadri Reddy also issued directions to hotel operators to strictly verify identity documents before providing rooms to couples during Valentine’s Day. He warned that any violation of legal norms would attract action under the law.
Hotel owners were instructed to maintain proper records and cooperate with authorities to ensure safety and prevent misuse of facilities.
Public Awareness and Preventive Measures
Police emphasized the need for awareness and vigilance among citizens, particularly during occasions when public interactions increase. The advisory is part of preventive efforts aimed at ensuring safety and discouraging misuse of social media and public spaces.
