Border 2 Advance Bookings Indicate Strong Opening
Trade Tracking Border 2 Release Ahead of Friday Opening
The theatrical release of Border 2 is scheduled for Friday, bringing together Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in a sequel to J. P. Dutta’s 1997 film Border. The film is directed by Anurag Singh, whose earlier work includes Kesari and Jugjugg Jeeyo. Expectations around the opening have been shaped largely by strong advance booking trends reported in the days leading up to release.
Advance Sales Show Strong Nationwide Momentum
Advance bookings for Border 2 have recorded steady growth across major centres. Industry tracker Sacnilk reported that the film collected ₹6.86 crore in advance sales by selling 2,15,777 tickets across 14,378 shows nationwide for Day 1. Trade tracking through Thursday indicated that the figure is expected to cross ₹10 crore in advance bookings by midnight.
The early trend places Border 2 ahead of several recent releases at a comparable stage. Dhurandhar had collected around ₹4 crore in advance bookings a day before its release, while a comparison of recent opening-day performances has already been covered in an earlier report on Dhurandhar’s opening collections.
Opening Day Benchmarks Under Watch
With advance sales already crossing ₹6 crore, attention has shifted to whether Border 2 can surpass the opening-day collections of 2025’s leading releases. Dhurandhar opened at ₹28 crore, while Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava recorded ₹31 crore on its first day. Trade estimates suggest that Border 2 is expected to earn over ₹30 crore on its opening day, though final figures will depend on spot bookings and occupancy levels on Friday.
Wide Release and Certification Details
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that Border 2 will be released on approximately 4,800 screens across India, translating to nearly 17,000 shows per day. He also shared certification and runtime details, noting that the film received a ‘UA’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification on January 21, 2026. The runtime has been listed at 199 minutes and 7 seconds.
With a wide release and strong pre-release traction, Border 2 enters theaters under close trade watch, particularly on whether it can convert advance momentum into sustained box office performance over the opening weekend.
