Incident at Bijinapalli police station sparks outrage

An incident involving alleged abuse and physical aggression by a sub-inspector at the Bijinapalli police station in Nagar Kurnool district has triggered public anger and widespread discussion on social media. According to the youths, a car collided with an auto near Velugonda Gate, injuring the auto driver. The injured driver was shifted to a hospital for treatment. The youths then brought the car driver to the police station, alleging that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

They said they requested the police to conduct a breath analyzer test to determine whether the car driver had consumed alcohol.

Allegations of inaction by police staff

The youths claimed that despite repeated requests, the police did not carry out a breath analyser test. Instead, they were told that the matter had already been discussed internally and that the issue would be taken up again the next day. The car driver was reportedly allowed to leave without undergoing even a preliminary alcohol test.

This decision reportedly led to an argument between the youths and police staff at the station.

Sub-inspector accused of abuse and assault

The situation escalated when Sub-Inspector Srinivas allegedly arrived at the police station in casual attire and confronted the youths. They accused the officer of using abusive language and physically attacking them inside the station premises.

The youths alleged that the sub-inspector hurled caste-based and obscene insults while assaulting them, despite their attempts to explain the circumstances of the accident and their demand for proper legal procedure.

Videos go viral, questions raised

Videos purportedly showing the confrontation have since gone viral on social media platforms. The footage has intensified public criticism and raised serious questions about police conduct, accountability, and adherence to protocol in accident-related cases.
