A tragic incident has come to light from Bapatla district, where the body of a deceased man was transported for nearly 10 kilometres on a motorcycle after relatives were unable to arrange an ambulance. The incident has raised questions about the availability of government emergency transport services in the area.
The deceased, identified as Nageswara Rao from Chintayapalem village in Karlapalem mandal, suffered a heart attack. Family members rushed him to Bapatla Area Hospital for treatment, but he was declared dead upon arrival.
Relatives Unable to Arrange Transport After Death
After the death, the family attempted to shift the body to their native place. However, they reportedly could not find a government ambulance at the hospital. With limited financial resources, the relatives were unable to pay ₹2,000 demanded for arranging an auto-rickshaw.
Left with no alternative, the family transported the body on a motorcycle for around 10 kilometres to reach their village. The incident drew attention from local residents and highlighted difficulties faced by families in accessing emergency transport during critical situations.
Questions Raised Over Emergency Service Accessibility
The incident has brought focus on the functioning and availability of ambulance services in rural areas. Lack of timely transport support forced the grieving family to take an extreme step, underlining the need for better accessibility of emergency medical services.
Officials are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the availability of ambulance services in the region.
