Telangana ACB Registers Case, Arrests Two Sub Inspectors In Bribery Trap
ACB Conducts Trap Operation At LB Nagar
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a trap operation on 09.03.2026 and caught two Armed Reserve Sub Inspectors accepting a bribe in LB Nagar. The officers were working at the Cyber Crime Police Station under the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate.
The arrested officials were identified as Sri Pramod Goud (AO-1) and Sri Jatavath Babu Naik (AO-2). Both were serving as Armed Reserve Sub Inspectors at the Cyber Crime Police Station.
Bribe Allegedly Demanded To Avoid Arrest
According to the ACB, the two officers demanded a bribe amount of Rs. 1,00,000 from a complainant. The money was allegedly sought for doing an official favour in a cybercrime case.
The officials had reportedly promised to issue a notice under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), formerly Section 41-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, instead of arresting the complainant in the case.
Bribe Amount Recovered During Trap
The trap was executed by the ACB City Range-II unit at LB Nagar Chowrastha. During the operation, AO-2 Jatavath Babu Naik accepted the bribe amount on behalf of himself and AO-1.
Officials recovered the tainted bribe amount of Rs. 1,00,000 from the possession of AO-2. The recovery was made at his instance following the trap proceedings.
ACB officials stated that the officers had performed their duties improperly and dishonestly in order to obtain an undue advantage.
Arrest And Judicial Proceedings Initiated
Following the trap operation, both accused officers were taken into custody by the ACB. Authorities confirmed that they would be produced before the Hon’ble I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally.
The court will consider the matter for judicial remand. The investigation into the case is currently underway.
