Police Respond After Newborn Found Abandoned in Cotton Field
Infant found wrapped in cloth in agricultural land
A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in a cotton field on Saturday in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district. The incident occurred in the outskirts of Seethanagar under Vallagonda Gram Panchayat in Kagaznagar mandal.
Local residents, who went towards the cotton fields in the morning, heard the cries of an infant. On locating the source, they found the baby wrapped in cloth and left inside the field, prompting them to immediately alert the police.
Police shift infant to hospital for immediate care
Police personnel reached the spot without delay and rescued the infant, who was found wrapped in a sack. The baby girl was safely shifted to a private hospital in Kagaznagar, where initial medical treatment was provided.
Officials confirmed that the infant was alive at the time of rescue and required immediate attention due to exposure.
Child protection officials take custody
Following the rescue, the matter was informed to Child Protection Officer Mahesh. He arrived at the hospital along with his team and took charge of the one-day-old infant.
The baby was later transferred to a child care centre for further protection and monitoring as per protocol.
Investigation initiated into abandonment
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify those responsible for abandoning the newborn. Efforts are underway to trace the parents and determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
The case has drawn public attention in the area, with residents expressing concern over the abandonment of a newborn child.
