Centre Releases Rs 640 Crore to Gram Panchayats, Minister Seethakka States
The Central Government has released another Rs 640 crore to gram panchayats as part of the pending funds under the 15th Finance Commission, according to State Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasyari Anasuya Seethakka.
The minister said the latest release forms part of the financial allocations meant for rural local bodies. With this tranche, the pending payments linked to the 2024–25 financial year have been cleared.
Funds Released Under the 15th Finance Commission
Minister Danasyari Anasuya Seethakka stated that the amount was sanctioned under the provisions of the 15th Finance Commission. The funds are meant to support development activities carried out by gram panchayats across the state.
She said that the Centre had earlier released a similar amount under the same funding mechanism. With the latest release of Rs 640 crore, the pending funds related to the financial year 2024–25 have now been disbursed.
The allocation is part of the regular financial support extended by the Central Government to local self-governing institutions for rural development.
Timely Submission of Reports Aided Fund Release
The minister noted that the release of funds was facilitated by the state government’s submitting the necessary documentation on time. According to her statement, the required Utilisation Certificates (UCs) and related reports were sent to the Central Government within the stipulated timelines.
She said that the timely submission of these documents helped accelerate the process of releasing funds to the gram panchayats.
The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department has been coordinating the process of preparing and forwarding the reports to ensure compliance with the guidelines.
Support for Panchayat Development Works
Minister Seethakka also stated that the funds were released in recognition of the manner in which development works are being implemented in gram panchayats. She said the projects are being carried out transparently and in accordance with prescribed rules.
The financial assistance is intended to support various development activities at the village level. Gram panchayats use these allocations to implement local infrastructure and development initiatives.
Officials said the department will continue monitoring the utilisation of the funds as part of the administrative process linked to the Finance Commission grants.
