Nagarkurnool: Organisers Accused in Infant Death at Kummera Mallanna Jatara
An incident at the Kummera Mallanna Jatara in Nagarkurnool mandal has triggered serious allegations against local organisers, following the death of a two-month-old infant after an alleged assault on a visiting family.
The family of Chakali Chandrakala had reportedly gone to the temple for Mallanna darshan when they were stopped by organisers at the venue. The organisers allegedly refused entry, claiming the family belonged to a BC community.
Allegations of Assault and Caste Discrimination
According to the family, when they questioned why they were being prevented from entering the temple, an argument broke out. Chandrakala, her son Ganesh, her daughter-in-law, and her daughter were allegedly abused and physically assaulted.

Those named in the allegations include Tukaram Reddy, Undyala Srinivas Reddy, Srikant Reddy, Satish Reddy Kannireddy, Kufender Reddy, and others. The complainants have stated that some of the accused are linked to the Congress party and belong to dominant caste groups.
During the altercation, the family alleged that they pleaded with the organisers to stop, pointing to the two-month-old infant. However, they claim the child was kicked during the assault. The infant later fell critically ill and died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police Complaint and Response
The family approached the Nagarkurnool Police Station to file a complaint against the organisers. They have alleged that the police did not register their complaint, stating that the accused were influential individuals associated with the Congress party.
The complainants further alleged that they were threatened when they attempted to pursue the matter. They have demanded that authorities provide protection and ensure justice in the case.
The incident has drawn attention to the conduct of organisers at religious gatherings and the handling of complaints by local police. The developments come amid other recent law and order concerns in the district, including the protest over an infant death reported earlier in Nagarkurnool.
