A daily wage worker, Pulluri Kanakayya, from Suryapet had earlier suffered a fracture in his leg and underwent surgery. He recovered after treatment and resumed normal activity. However, a few days ago, he sustained another injury to the same leg, leading to severe and persistent pain.
The recurring pain affected his daily routine, and he continued to struggle without relief. The discomfort reportedly worsened in recent days, causing significant physical distress.
Excess Medication and Hospitalisation
Unable to bear the pain, Kanakayya consumed a high dose of painkiller tablets on the 16th of this month. Within two hours, he began feeling weak and unwell. Family members immediately shifted him to a hospital for medical attention.
He remained under treatment, but his condition did not improve. Kanakayya died the following day while undergoing medical care.

Doctors stated that the death occurred due to the excessive intake of painkiller tablets. Medical professionals have advised the public not to consume medication without proper prescription and supervision, stressing the risks associated with unsupervised dosage.
The incident has drawn attention to the dangers of self-medication, particularly in cases involving prolonged pain and previous injuries. Health experts reiterated the need for timely medical consultation and adherence to prescribed treatment.
