The Telangana government is preparing to transfer Rythu Bharosa assistance into farmers’ bank accounts from February 17 or 18. The Finance Department has arranged the required funds, and transfers will begin following directions from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Farmers across the state are awaiting the support, which is expected to be credited directly into their bank accounts once the municipal election code ends on February 16.
Previous Disbursement and Coverage
During the 2025–26 Kharif season, Rythu Bharosa assistance was credited to 6,939,548 beneficiaries. An amount of ₹6,000 per acre was transferred, totalling ₹8,744.13 crore. The distribution was carried out over nine days, beginning with one acre and continuing until all eligible farmers received payments.
The government has made arrangements to transfer assistance to the same beneficiaries again. Payments were earlier made for 1.46 crore acres during the Kharif season, and the same extent of land is expected to be covered in the upcoming Yasangi season.
Financial Arrangements and Verification
To ensure the availability of funds, the state government borrowed ₹9,000 crore from the Reserve Bank of India on February 10. Authorities have also conducted a satellite-based survey under Professor Jayashankar of Telangana Agricultural University to identify cultivated land and remove bogus beneficiaries.
The university submitted its findings to the government. Despite the survey, the administration has decided in principle to continue payments to all farmers who received assistance during the previous season.
Pending Clarity on New Applications
After the Kharif season, agricultural land transactions were reported in several districts. Farmers who recently purchased land are waiting for registration under the scheme. Officials stated that new applications cannot be accepted until government approval is issued.
There is no clarity yet on the cut-off date for accepting new beneficiaries. Farmers continue to seek updates from local agricultural offices regarding inclusion in the scheme.
