In the first phase, more than 250 companies from various industries took part in the placement process, making a total of 1,202 job offers. Out of these, students confirmed 1,079 offers, including those received as pre-placement offers.
IIT-Kanpur BTech Placement Trends
Fifteen students received global job offers from firms across Europe, Japan, Korea, and the United States, marking a key milestone of this year’s drive. The institute expects even more international hiring in Phase 2, which is set to begin in mid-January 2026, indicating broader worldwide placement opportunities ahead.
This phase saw active participation from both Indian and international recruiters. Major companies such as Accenture, Airbus, American Express, BlackRock, Boeing, Databricks, Deutsche Bank, ICICI Bank, Mastercard, Meesho, Navi, PwC, Qualcomm, Samsung, InMobi, and Square Point Capital visited the campus. Public Sector Undertakings, including BPCL, BEL, MIDHANI, and EI,L also took part, further strengthening the placement pool.
Commenting on the conclusion of Phase 1, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, stated that the results highlight the institute’s high academic standards, the students’ readiness for industry roles, and the institution’s strong relations with top organisations worldwide. He praised the Students’ Placement Office for conducting an adaptable and inclusive process and reaffirmed IIT Kanpur’s commitment to developing talent capable of contributing to both national and international progress.
On the first day alone, students at IIT Kanpur secured 672 job offers (December 1), the highest Day 1 count recorded to date. The ongoing 2025–26 placement season has already shown a 16% improvement compared to the previous year, with numbers expected to grow as pending results come in.
Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) also saw a remarkable rise, showing a 20% jump from last season. A total of 253 PPOs were made, marking an impressive 27% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, nine students received confirmed overseas opportunities, adding to the institute’s strong placement performance.
