A complaint has been filed with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) regarding the recent police lathi charge incident at Srisailam. The complaint relates to action taken against devotees who had arrived for darshan after completing their religious observances and carrying an irumudi.
The issue has drawn attention after allegations surfaced about police using force on devotees during crowd control measures at the temple premises.
Allegations of Force Against Devotees
The complaint was submitted by Nandyal-based senior advocate Phanindra Nath. In his petition to the NHRC, he raised concerns over the reported lathi charge on devotees who had come to the temple after completing their deeksha and were proceeding for darshan of Lord Shiva.
The advocate alleged that the use of force against pilgrims required examination and sought intervention into the circumstances that led to the incident.
Complaint Names Police and Temple Administration
The petition reportedly names both the police authorities and the temple administrative body in connection with the incident. The complaint calls for an inquiry into the handling of the situation and the actions taken during the crowd control process.
The matter comes amid continued discussion surrounding the Srisailam temple crowd control incident, previously reported in coverage of the police lathi charge at Srisailam temple during crowd management.
Further response from the concerned authorities is awaited following the filing of the complaint.
