A criminal case has been registered in Medchal–Malkajgiri district after a private school physics teacher allegedly entered into a relationship with a Class 10 student and secretly married her. The incident has drawn attention to serious violations of trust and child protection laws within an educational institution.
The accused, identified as Parre Maiteen (27), was working as a physics teacher in a private school located in the Pocharam division of the district. Police said the teacher allegedly misled the minor student, developed a personal relationship with her, and later conducted a secret marriage without the knowledge of her family.
Family Discovers Marriage After Suspicion
The matter came to light around 20 days ago when the student’s mother reportedly noticed a turmeric thread around her daughter’s neck, traditionally associated with marriage. When questioned, the student disclosed the relationship and the alleged secret marriage with the teacher.
Following this revelation, the girl’s family approached the school management and questioned them over the conduct of the teacher and institutional oversight. According to the complaint, the family did not receive a satisfactory response from the school authorities regarding the incident.
Police Register Case Under POCSO Act
After failing to receive clear answers from the school, the parents lodged a formal complaint with the police. Based on the complaint and preliminary inquiry, police registered a case against the teacher under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Authorities confirmed that the accused was taken into custody and later produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining all aspects of the case, including the role and responsibility of the school administration in ensuring student safety.
Institutional Responsibility Under Scrutiny
The case has once again highlighted the importance of strict safeguards within educational institutions, particularly in protecting minors from exploitation. Legal provisions under the POCSO Act treat any such relationship involving a minor as a serious criminal offense, regardless of claims of consent.
Officials stated that appropriate legal action will continue based on evidence collected during the investigation. Further steps may follow depending on findings related to institutional accountability and compliance with child protection norms.
